Parents' Alert Exploding Eggs Using microwave ovens to heat certain foods may be dangerous. Foods may heat unevenly resulting in accidental burns. Baby bottles full of milk may burst a few minutes after coming out of the microwave. Some foods come in their own containers which may explode. Two letters in The New England Journal of Medicine described cases of exploding eggs that were heated in a microwave oven. One related the story of a teenager who heated seven eggs in the shell in a microwave He set them on the table and six almost simultaneously exploded, showering him with their very hot contents. ...
