Carl Johnson was once a British superstar who sold his small London creative hotshop to a big holding company, Omnicom Group, and then was shipped-with much fanfare-over to the States to save the big house's stumbling marquee Chiat Day, New York, which changed its name to TBWA/Chiat/Day. A lot was expected of Carl, and the pressure apparently got to him. He disappeared in 2002, taking off with his wife Linda and four sons for Sydney, Australia, on what was officially described as a one-year sabbatical.
