Jul. 21--Rhode Island's congressional delegation is urging the federal agency that regulates liquefied natural gas projects to develop a New England-wide strategic plan before allowing any new or expanded marine LNG terminals in Providence or Fall River.
The request -- by Senators Jack Reed and Lincoln D. Chafee, and by Representatives James R. Langevin and Patrick J. Kennedy -- is in a letter sent last week to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission after East Providence officials spoke to the congressional delegation.
