HYDE PARK, N.Y. -- The Culinary Institute of America ("CIA") and American Culinary Institute, Inc. ("ACI") announce that they have settled the lawsuit that was filed by the CIA in February of this year in federal district court in the Northern District of California. In the lawsuit, captioned The Culinary Institute of America v. American Culinary Institute, Inc., No. C 04-0585 SC, the CIA alleged trademark infringement and unfair competition arising out of ACI's use of the name and trademark American Culinary Institute in connection with judging food and food-related products and awarding gold medals for such products.
