No little bell tinkles above the door when you walk into Countryside Hardware in DeRuyter, and the floor is gray, painted concrete instead of creaking wood.
Everything else, though, is here: the long, wide aisles with shelves piled with Carhartt and tools and toys; the quiet but helpful "girls" in blue Countryside Hardware smocks; the barbecue grills, steel-toed boots and 5-gallon tubs of tractor hydraulic fluid.
