PA Governor Rendell Comments on Decision to Reconsider Higher Education Tuition Increase.

HARRISBURG, Pa., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell today commended the State System of Higher Education's Board of Directors for lowering a proposed tuition increase by one-third, and lauded the measure as "a victory for students and their parents."

As a result of a meeting held with SSHE officials, Governor Rendell, the Chancellor and the chair of the Board's Finance Committee agreed to cut the tuition increase to 4.6 percent and to eliminate a proposed $50 increase in the technology fee imposed on students to connect to campus intranets.
