Oct. 2--Even as government and for-profit employment in Northeastern Minnesota declined last year, the number of employees who worked for nonprofit organizations grew 5.5 percent and their average wages exceeded those in the for-profit sector.
A profile of nonprofit sector contributions to the state's 2002 economy was released Wednesday by the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits at the group's annual conference in St. Paul. "Minnesota Nonprofit Economy Report 2003" analyzed each region of the state as well as the state as a whole.
