Sep. 24--Mike Hamilton, Daviess County's solid waste coordinator, can't predict how many worn-out tires will arrive at the state highway garage beginning Thursday, but it could be an impressive number.
"As far as participation or numbers go, I have no idea ...," Hamilton said Tuesday. "I do know that my office has been swamped with calls regarding tire amnesty. So that's a pretty good sign."
Residents of Owensboro and Daviess County and some businesses can bring their old tires for free disposal from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the state garage at 2973 Fairview Drive.
