It's one of the most basic rules of moviemaking: Action is driven by character. But "The Bourne Supremacy" hints at a new paradigm, in which action not only drives character _ particularly during one of the most electrifying car chases ever committed to film _ it becomes character.
The movie's climactic chase through the streets of Moscow further elevates what was already the best spy vs. spy thriller since the end of the Cold War, transforming "The Bourne Supremacy" into a visceral exploration of the limits of cinematic action. With its foot pressed to the floor from beginning to end, "Bourne" is a non-stop gas.
