TO EXPAND IT'S COVERAGE OF THE OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT INDUSTRY, the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI) developed an econometric forecasting model for handheld products. The industry products specified in the forecast are handheld blowers, backpack blowers, trimmers and chain saws. The projections are annual shipments, aggregated into calendar years.
The OPEI Econometric Forecast for Handheld Products, revised in March 2004, indicated that improvements in the national economy and consumer sentiment had a positive impact on shipments of most products.
