2004 JUL 31 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- Mosquitoes in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, have tested positive for West Nile virus.
The mosquitoes were captured by Albuquerque's environmental health department as part of routine surveillance efforts and came from the north valley area just outside the boundaries of the state's most populous city.
Paul Ettestad, public health veterinarian for the state Health Department, said officials hope to detect where the mosquito-borne West Nile virus has arrived to alert people to take precautions.
