Jul. 23--INDUSTRY, Calif. -- The city bought a 525-acre piece of Tonner Canyon on Thursday for $22.5 million, giving Industry about 5,700 acres in the area.
The purchase will ensure access to the Firestone Scout Reservation and will provide open space, Industry Mayor Dave Perez said.
Industry bought the land, along Tonner Canyon Road in Orange County, from Tonner Canyon LLC using general fund money.
But other groups are casting a wary eye on Industry's latest purchase of prime land outside its city limits.
