Sep. 7--As the second anniversary of 9/11 arrives, one of the newest ventures in homeland defense continues to take shape 40 miles north of Pueblo.
The operation features more in common with Pueblo than some might know.
Think of the new Northern Command at Peterson Air Force Base in southeast Colorado Springs as the Department of Defense version of a city-county emergency training exercise. Except this one spans ocean-to-ocean and never ends.
