Aug. 27--Cooper's Garden Center in southwest Bakersfield, which has more than six decades of local history, is closing.
The retail nursery will reopen Friday for its final sale. The last day of business hasn't yet been determined, said Brad Cooper, 44, who has been running the location at 8400 Stockdale Highway since 1991.
Cooper's Nursery Wholesale on Nord Avenue is a separate company that will not be affected by the garden center's closure, said Russel Cooper, Brad Cooper's cousin, who operates the wholesale business.
