Oct. 28--TOKYO--Yahoo Japan Corp., Japan's leading Internet portal site operator, drew a tepid response from investors when it debuted Tuesday on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TSE), ending the day at 1.57 million yen after opening at 1.65 million yen.

The company's initial and closing stock prices on the First Section were lower than the last quote of 1.68 million yen on the Jasdaq over-the-counter market for Yahoo Japan, which faltered under selling pressure from profit takers after a recent surge. At one point in the morning, its price hit 1.70 million yen.
