Oct. 29--Labor and delivery nurse Barbara Clark stood beside an obstetrician at the end of a hospital bed where a woman was in the throes of delivery.
WHAM!
The mother kicked Clark in the face, slamming her head against a concrete wall, breaking her teeth and injuring her jaw.
It was a turning point in Clark's life.
That moment marked the beginning of what has become a nine-year workers' compensation dispute between Clark and her former employer, San Joaquin Community Hospital.
