Oct. 22--Sutter County wants to make its own decisions about drinking water, flood control and riparian habitat before somebody else does.
Armed with a $195,200 state grant, the county is embarking on a lengthy planning effort for its watershed.
"There are so many services we get from the watershed that sustain us and protect us," said Craig Benson, the environmental coordinator for the watershed project. "It's the basic building block of planning."
Even city dwellers in Yuba City should take note, he said.
"Watershed encompasses all of the land and water of Yuba City and the way it's managed," he said.
