Article: Four of Five Big Japan Automakers Post Domestic Sales Gains in April-Sept.

Oct. 24--TOKYO--Four of Japan's five major automakers saw their domestic sales grow in the first half of fiscal 2003, while exports were generally sluggish, according to figures released Friday by the five companies.

Most of them posted double-digit gains in overseas output in the April-September period, while three of them saw their domestic production rise as well.

Nissan Motor Co. was the only company that posted across-the-board gains in domestic sales, exports, overseas output and domestic output.
