Jul. 24--The name of the first person in California to die of West Nile virus emerged Friday as worried residents flooded Orange County's mosquito-control agency with calls a day after officials announced the death.
James Damiano, 57, had been on kidney dialysis when he died June 24 at a Fullerton nursing home, a family member said.
"I was there when he died," said brother Joe Damiano of Rancho Cucamonga. "They told me heart failure. Now I find out it was different stuff."
