Jul. 25--The biggest toll increases in the Pennsylvania Turnpike's 64-year history go into effect a week from today.
While turnpike officials have said the increases average 44 percent systemwide, they actually range from 33 percent to 67 percent, an analysis of the new toll schedules reveals.
From a percentage standpoint, the highest toll increases will affect commuter trips such as Warrendale-Butler Valley, going from 60 cents to $1, and Lansdale-Valley Forge in the Philadelphia area, rising from 90 cents to $1.50, both reflecting 67 percent increases.
