Jul. 26--Boone County is adopting new accounting standards that officials say will make monitoring the financial health of the county easier for the general public and holders of county-issued bonds.
The changes are intended to make the county's financial statements look more like those of a private business.
For instance, the budget model used so far would have shown the county investment in the recently finished health facility on Worley Street only as a one-time capital expenditure.
