To engage in true divisional neighborhood rivalries this season, the Syracuse Crunch will need a back yard as big as North America.
In a last-minute move that injects both the AHL's geographic boundaries and some travel budgets with a large dose of helium, the league announced Friday that it has approved relocation of its franchise in Toronto to Edmonton, Alberta.
Here's the kicker: because of the lateness of the move, Edmonton will replace the Toronto Roadrunners in the AHL's North Division, teaming with Syracuse, Rochester, Hamilton, St. John's, Cleveland and Manitoba.
