Cedric stretched his sinewy, 14-inch frame out on a hammock suspended from his cage Sunday.
The furry ferret drew his share of stares from several terriers, miniature schnauzers and other dogs, along with their respective owners, during a pet lovers' party at Alton Baker Park that also served as a fund-raiser for a local pet organization.
Melanee Ellis said ferrets embody the best characteristics of cats and dogs.
"They have the independence of cats and the affection of dogs," she said as she gently petted Cedric. "And they're so adorable. They're like a Slinky with fur."
