Jul. 30--Richmonder William H. Goodwin Jr. wants to extend his upscale resort empire yet again.
Goodwin hopes to buy South Carolina's Sea Pines Resort community along the southern tip of Hilton Head Island.
His family-controlled Riverstone Group offered yesterday to buy Sea Pines Associates Inc., the entity operating the resort community and its golf courses. The deal is valued at about $23 million.
"Sea Pines is a wonderful place and we want to make it better," said Goodwin, who has owned a home there for 25 years.
