BROOKLYN, Mich. _ Last year, he spun and won in the Irish Hills. Sunday, Alex Barron wants to keep it close at Michigan International Speedway. A top-five finish would be OK.
Barron will compete in the IRL Michigan Indy 400 at MIS, where 12 months ago he made one of the most spectacular saves ever seen at the track.
While running wheel to wheel with Tomas Scheckter and Sam Hornish Jr., Barron brushed Scheckter on Lap 164 of the 200-lap race. Barron looped the car, somehow kept it off the wall and ducked into the pits under yellow for new tires.
Within 20 laps, Barron had caught the leaders. He then battled it ...
