Students will be layering it on thick this back-to-school season.
Layers are the fashion trend for kids hitting the books from grade school to high school, with casual clothes and more conservative looks taking their seats at the head of the class.
"For a long time, we were going toward this trend of showing more, more and more skin," says Heather Drake, senior marketing manager at FlatIron Crossing. "But now there's more of a fashion focus on covering up with longer skirts, fewer bare midriffs and jackets."
