PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The oil authorities of Abu Dhabi have finally designated US-based EXXONMOBIL as its strategic partner in the development of the giant offshore Upper Zakum oil field. The long-awaited decision was taken some 3 months ago, but a formal announcement has been postponed up until now because of the politically sensitive nature of the matter.
According to the terms of the agreement EXXONMOBIL will undertake the prime task of further developing the field. Upper Zakum's current production capacity is around 550,000 barrels per day (b/d) and the field is programmed for expansion to approximately 750,000 b/d. The increase in Upper Zakum ...
