NEW YORK -- Two of basic-cable's highly touted original entries, Sci Fi Channel's original Stargate Atlantis and TNT's limited series The Grid, came out of the blocks with strong ratings performances.
Stargate Atlantis blasted off into a new Nielsen stratosphere, delivering the most viewers and highest ratings of any series in Sci Fi's history. The two-hour debut of the Stargate SG-1 spinoff delivered a 3.2 household rating and some 4.19 million viewers on July 16 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research data.
In addition to scoring with a record number of viewers, the show was Sci Fi's all-time best series in reaching adults 18 to 49 ...
