With attendance totaling more than 400 people from around the world, the 20th annual conference of the American Cheese Society culminated in a grand spectacle called the Festival of Cheeses, held at the newly renovated San Francisco Ferry Plaza Building.
Twenty judges evaluating entries for the Louisville, Ky.-based society were faced with 616 cheeses submitted for judging, a 25 percent increase over 2002 and a conference record. A public event, the festival gave cheese lovers the opportunity to sample as many of the entries as they wished.
