Advances in technologies employed by R&D organizations have led to increasing amounts of data (e.g., high throughput screening experiments) and a focus on leveraging past research studies. Recent emphasis on process improvement frameworks, such as Six Sigma, has resulted in the rediscovery of the importance of the application of numerical and graphical data analysis incorporated into everyday R&D processes.
