Savor it because it doesn't come around that often. Savor it because the World Series is not something easily achieved.
You can't buy your way in. Not every year, anyway. The Yankees pumped up the payroll this season, and they didn't last five games in the playoffs.
You can't bully your way in. Pete Rose tried that in 1973. The Mets' Bud Harrelson fought him to a draw. Rose watched the Series on TV.
You can have the three best pitchers in captivity, and it may not be enough. Just ask the A's. Better yet, give it a few months. Then ask.
