Are you ready to go live?

Microsoft is taking its Xbox video game console online Nov. 15 with its Xbox Live service, going head-to-head with the online game play already available for Sony's PlayStation 2.

I participated in the early beta test for the Xbox Live service with about 10,000 other North American gamers, most of them chosen in a drawing. Here's an early review and setup guide for those of you itching to plug in.

First, here's what you need to get started:

An Xbox console (duh!)

A high-speed Internet service provider. Xbox Live will not work over a dial-up connection.
