CHICAGO _ For Deena Drossin, marathoning is a lifestyle choice.
At 29, Drossin long has been the top U.S. woman in cross-country and 10,000-meter track races. The marathon, four times longer, allows her to spend longer times at home, lately a house shared with other runners in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
"I like being at home, which is why I enjoy training for a marathon," Drossin said. "You can spend two or three months in one place training for a race."
