A new survey shows the nation's abortion rates continue to fall, except among women who already have the highest rates _ those with low incomes.
U.S. abortion rates have been declining for more than a decade, while birth rates have been falling except for women over 29. Experts have attributed these trends to many factors_AIDS fears, abstinence education, increased use of contraception, a booming economy, and delayed childbearing.
The new study found that, for every 1,000 women of childbearing age, the number who had abortions fell from 24 in 1994 to 21 in 2000. The survey was released Tuesday by the Alan Guttmacher ...
