Oct. 25--AstraZeneca P.L.C. said third-quarter profit declined 5 percent from a year ago in part because of slowing sales of its best-seller, ulcer treatment Prilosec.
The company increased its annual earnings outlook after a positive ruling on a federal patent case that the company said would delay a generic version of Prilosec, also known as omeprazole, until next year. A New York judge ruled earlier this month that three generic firms infringed AstraZeneca's patents, and one had not.
