Palo Alto, Calif., Gets `Green' Stamp of Approval.

Oct. 29--Environmental conservation officials plan to announce today that Palo Alto is the first Bay Area city to achieve certification as a green-friendly government -- a distinction the municipality basically created for itself.

Palo Alto will be lauded this afternoon at the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors meeting for its numerous citywide conservation initiatives and its savvy in applying for certification long before anyone else -- even the certification program officials -- thought of it as an option.
