Aug. 3--One gas station manager in Fort Lauderdale said he "forgot" about the gas tax holiday that started Sunday, when gasoline retailers statewide were supposed to cut pump prices by 8 cents a gallon.

A few gas retailers, who reduced prices by less than 8 cents a gallon, said wholesalers raised gas prices just before Sunday, so they couldn't afford to give consumers the full tax cut without losing money.

But most South Florida gas stations complied with the state's first temporary reduction in the gasoline sales tax, lopping off 8 cents per gallon, according ...
