Aug. 3--HIDALGO, Texas -- Fairness and job security were the prevailing themes of a protest the South Texas Organization of Police led late Monday afternoon in front of the city police department.
More than 30 officers and residents from Hidalgo and surrounding cities gathered to support the newly formed 11-member Hidalgo Police Association and asked for the removal of Police Chief Vernon Rosser.
The association's president, Monica Guajardo, was demoted from senior investigator to patrol officer.
