FedEx Flies Race Cars, Equipment to San Bernardino, Calif., Airport.

Oct. 11--SAN BERNARDINO, Calif.--FedEx crews will deliver $70 million in CART cars and equipment at San Bernardino International Airport for the first time in preparation for a race at California Speedway on Nov. 3.

FedEx will land its Boeing 747s carrying 36 race cars, two pace cars, four safety trucks and equipment in late October for the November race.

"It makes a great deal of sense that these cars come here because we are located in such close proximity to the raceway," said T. Milford Harrison, the airport authority's executive director. "We're delighted to play a part."

The charter is a critical test for the airport and its future. ...
