Although each Asian group has had its own unique experience in the United States, research efforts have focused largely on how Asian Americans differ from mainstream U.S. culture; little attention has been paid to the intracultural experience of these groups (Dana, 1993). Moreover, despite continuing expansion of psychological investigations with Asian Americans, research has been particularly lacking on the cultural adjustment of South Asians-those coming from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, or Maldives (Sheth, 1995).
