In his article "Countdown to commitment" (Journal of the Australian War Memorial 21 (October 1992)) Peter Edwards, Official Historian of Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War, reconstructed the immediate political context of the Australian Government's decision, in April 1965, to send combat forces to Vietnam.
