Aug. 2--Fifteen members of the Punta Gorda Business and Community Alliance will meet Tuesday to consider whether the organization should become a Chamber of Commerce. The exploratory committee will not be deciding whether a new organization should be created in the city.
"It's only a name change," alliance executive director Donna Heidenreich emphasized Friday.
The alliance is a nonprofit 501c6 corporation supported by its $300 annual membership dues. The similarly nonprofit chamber of commerce assesses its dues on a sliding scale based on number of employees, starting at $158 for a business with no employees and rising as ...
