THE fuss over last Thursday ' s gay wedding ceremony in an Edinburgh pub - by a Church of Scotland minister - might remind our ruling elites of two realities readily forgotten in a society so sleek in its diversity.

Most people are not homosexual - and most of them regard homosexual acts with revulsion, however well disposed to gay people they might be. It is, accordingly, hard to have a sensible debate on the subject.

Against this, homosexuality exists. It is as old as human nature, and homosexual acts are part of the spectrum of human behaviour. Many still refuse to accept these realities - but then, 'The English,' ...
