TOKYO, Aug 3 Asia Pulse - Lion Corp. (TSE:4912) has developed an anti-bacterial alternative to the preservatives that are normally added to eye drops.
The company has demonstrated in experiments that a certain mixture of trometamol and sodium edetate (EDTA) can inhibit bacterial proliferation as well as typical preservatives like chlorobutanol. Since trometamol is used as a base liquid for injection preparations and EDTA is widely used in medicinal pills, their safety in humans is already established.
