When it comes time to play in burgeoning Santa Clara, there aren't a lot of parks to head for.
The fast-growing area, home to more than 15,000 people, has only a few developed parks covering a combined 1 acre.
"We have Awbrey Park, but there is not much room there for anything," said longtime Santa Clara resident Lee Hunsaker, 81, chairman of the Santa Clara Community Organization. "A lot of Santa Clara people go to the River Road area and use Emerald Park," he added, but that's a drive of a couple of miles.
