Trial lawyers moved swiftly to help those whose lives were devastated by the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Through the Trial Lawyers Care program, more than 1,000 volunteer attorneys provided pro bono legal services to victims who filed claims with the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund. TLC recently completed its work and closed its doors, leaving a legacy of lives rebuilt, if not fully restored. Here, two former ATLA presidents who were instrumental in pressing Congress to create the fund and in building TLC recall trial lawyers' unprecedented response to an unprecedented tragedy.
