Sep. 24--Handheld-computer pioneer Palm on Monday reported a wider loss on a 20 percent drop in sales but said new devices sporting new brand names should help reverse its recent downturn.
The Milpitas company announced the names of two new product lines, "Tungsten" and "Zire," which will begin selling this holiday season. Tungsten will be a professional line much like what Palm offers now. Zire will be Palm's attempt to broaden the appeal of its gadgets to include not just office workers but also more students and parents.
