A county commissioner says Dakota County is at the "very early stage" of considering participation in a regional smoking ban.
Commissioner Kathleen Gaylord has added a regional smoking ban discussion to the county community services meeting on Aug. 24.
Gaylord has been discussing options for a regional smoking ban with other leaders and has attended meetings on the topic called by St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly twice in recent weeks.
Signs are that a regional smoking ban is likely to be in place by spring, Gaylord said.
