If Wrigley Field has been certified as safe, both the city of Chicago and the Chicago Cubs were asking baseball fans Friday to take that on faith.
The city does not perform or require regular structural inspections of stadiums such as Wrigley Field, but the Cubs ordered a "complete structural engineering review" of the stadium in 2001 and the results were shared with the city, said Mike Lufrano, vice president for community affairs for the Cubs.
