GRAPE CONCENTRATE--Early low prices for grape concentrate this season were the result of large surpluses, competition from imports and the closures of Grapeco and Canandaigua's Escalon, CA processing plant. Canandaigua continues to process grape concentrate at its Madera winery for specialized markets, such as organic and kosher.
Domestic white grape concentrate is between $6.25$6.75 per gallon, however, most of the product is sold out. Processors expect opening prices of this year's crop to come in at or above $7.00 per gallon, f.o.b. CA.
